Loretta Glanville

Loretta Glanville is a dedicated Strong Mulgal, Dauareb, Kaurareg woman who embodies her cultural values and spiritual beliefs. With a strong commitment to youth education, women's mental health, and land and sea conservation, she has made significant contributions to her community.


Currently working in the Conservation Industry in the Torres Strait, advocating for environmental stewardship and cultural heritage. Her professional background spans the mining and civil industries, where she witnessed the environmental impacts of these sectors, ultimately leading her to leave a high-paying job to serve her community.


She actively participated with the Queensland Indigenous Women’s Ranger Network (QIWRN) and has used the network to empower her leadship skill. Loretta has successfully mentored young women rangers, promoting leadership in a traditionally male-dominated field in her line of work as a Indegnious Female Ranger in the Torres Strait. Loretta emphasizes the vital connection between women and their land, facilitating engagement activities for women and children to foster healing and a sense of belonging.


In addition to her cultural leadership, Loretta has facilitated youth cultural programs and has experience in a Registered Training Organization (RTO), witnessing the transformative impact of education on Indigenous youth. Her vision is to empower Torres Strait Islanders through education to become environmental practitioners and caretakers of their land and sea, ensuring a sustainable and culturally rich future for her community and the region of Zeneth Kes.
