Amos Lewin

Amos Lewin is a dedicated and experienced leader in community justice and Indigenous affairs, with over 15 years of service to the Torres Strait Islands. As the Manager of the Thursday Island Torres Strait Islander & Aboriginal Justice Corporation, he plays a vital role in overseeing justice initiatives across 12 communities, ensuring culturally appropriate legal support and advocacy. His work focuses on empowering the community through dispute resolution, victim support, and legal education while upholding the rich cultural heritage of the Torres Strait Islands. Amos collaborates closely with government bodies, community leaders, and stakeholders to implement programs that address legal challenges and promote community-led justice solutions. His leadership has been instrumental in developing policies that balance justice with cultural preservation, fostering stronger, more resilient communities.

 

With expertise in stakeholder engagement, accredited mediation, youth program development, and rehabilitation initiatives, Amos is committed to supporting individuals and families within the region. His work extends beyond legal advocacy to focus on long-term solutions that improve social outcomes, including reintegration programs and initiatives tailored to youth development. As a Justice of the Peace and a passionate advocate for Indigenous rights, Amos continues to drive meaningful change, ensuring that Torres Strait Islander communities have access to justice while strengthening their cultural identity and self-determination.
